Costumes of Rajasthan People

Rajasthan- the land of royalty is a glittering jewel set in the golden sands of a barren deserts landscape.  Drenched into royal grandeur and soaked into glorious history, Rajasthan is one of the most charming and captivating states of India. Folk songs are commonly ballads which relate heroic deeds and love stories; and religious or devotional songs known as bhajans and banis (often accompanied by musical instruments like dholak , sitar , sarangi etc.) are also sung. Kanhaiya Geet also sung in major areas of east rajasthani belt in the collectiong manner as a best source of entertainment in the rural areas. Rajasthan is famous for textiles, semi-precious stones and handicrafts, and for its traditional and colorful art.

Men's Attire

The Costumes of Rajasthan is very difference in INDIA. The Pagri (turban), Angarkha , Dhoti , Pyjamas, Kamarbandh or Patka (waistband) form an integral part of a Rajasthani male's attire. The style of the turban with its colour and the way in which it is worn holds a stature of special significance to the people of Rajasthan as it is symbolic of the caste and region to which a person belongs. Whereas the common man in Rajasthan wears a turban of one colour only, the men from rich families wear designs and colours which are suited to the occasion.

Women's Attire

The Costumes of Rajasthan people are designed by keeping in mind the weather and local conditions. Women of Rajasthan wear a long skirt called Ghaghra, Choli or Kurti (blouses and tops) with an Odhini. Beautiful Rajasthani jewelleries are designed uniquely and stylishly embellished with diamonds, emeralds and expensive stones. The luxurious and rich costumes were designed beautifully by the special people during ancient times.The Ghoomer dance of Rajasthan is a trademark women's dance performed by the women themselves who dance elegantly in circles.

Tribal's Attire

Gair Ghoomar of Rajasthan is one of the many dance-forms of the Bhil tribals performed during Holi festival, this is among a few performances where both men and women dance together. The art of  Folk Music and Dances is popular amongst the Tribal people of Rajasthan. They are part of "Costumes of Rajasthan".
